The Origins:

The Rock Against Cancer Festival was born in 2015, driven by the Wyatt brothers, following a previous donation to the AECC in 2009. Initially, it was organized by a small group with the support of dedicated volunteers. The first two editions (2015 and 2017) were held together with the rest of the Organizing Committee members: Janet Figueroa, Robert Grumheden, Lars Andersen, and Chalotte Lange. The first edition took place on Apolo Street and featured artists such as Santiago Campillo, as well as a guitar signed by Fito Cabrales that was auctioned to raise funds. Due to the event’s growth, the 2018 and 2019 editions were moved to the iconic Eras de la Sal venue.

The pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 edition, but smaller concerts were organized across Costa Blanca with the support of local businesses, promoting a safe cultural experience. In 2022, the fifth edition took place at Antonio Soria Park, featuring improved infrastructure, a food truck area, and an artisan market.

In 2023, the sixth edition stood out for its international lineup, with tribute bands like Almost AC/DC and the Bryan Adams Tribute Band, along with national artists. It was an unprecedented success, raising €20,000 for AFECÁNCER and Alicante Para La Lucha Contra El Cáncer. The lineup also included The Boss (a tribute to Springsteen) and SAD (a tribute to Metallica), solidifying the international level of the event.

Since 2018, the festival has partnered with Space Support Producciones for stage, lighting, and sound, enhancing the overall quality of the show. Each edition presents new challenges and learnings, always with a commitment to continuous improvement. The festival’s mission remains to support local NGOs that fight cancer, combining solidarity and music.

Special thanks go to sponsors, volunteers — such as the Costa Blanca Rawhiders Motorcycle Association — and to all attendees, especially those who travel from abroad to support this charitable cause.

Long live Rock Against Cancer!
